About Erika Beck
My works have been shown over many years in numerous solo and selected group exhibitions winning commendations and prizes. They are enjoyed by people in private and public places My favourite inspiration has always been the Australian landscape, rugged, sparse, sundrenched, seasoned by drought and fire it invites and challenges the artist.
Travelling to paint I have captured the images from Cape Tribulation to Kangaroo Island and from the Kimberley to Central Australia. But whatever inspires me at the moment, be it a well chosen bouquet of flowers, a garden or urban setting, I look to the subject to give me inspiration and to stay in my own way, true to its image. But artists must dream and sometimes paint their dreams.
I am an artist and I am allowed to dream and I am happy to see that my painting 'The Dreaming' has been selected as a finalist for the 2017 Mosman Art Prize. My painting 'Carrington Falls VI' has been awarded the 2018 Medal of Distinction by the Royal Art Society of NSW.

“Each painting I create is a unique expression of myself, reflecting my essential need to articulate individuality through my work. Art—both my own and in general—is central to my life, shaping not only my creativity and activity but also my social connections."
